Obituary of Norma Hernandez
Norma Hernandez (Brignoni) a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister completed her earthly journey and entered into eternal peace on March 29, 2024 at the age of 73. Born on September 21, 1950, in the Bronx, New York, Norma’s life was one steadfast commitment to her family, her faith and her community.
Norma is remembered with profound love and respect by her devoted husband of 54 years, Wilfredo Hernandez. Together, they built a life filled with shared values and cherished moments. She was a guiding light to her son, David Hernandez, and his partner Lisa Garey; a source of wisdom and laughter to her grandchildren, Isaiah and Patricia; and a beloved figure to her step-grandchildren Victor, Christopher, Raymond, and Nicholas. Norma’s jovial spirit will live on in the hearts of her great grandchildren, Ariella and Mason. Her sister, Sofie Brignoni, and niece Marilyn Brignoni, join the family in mourning her loss while celebrating the treasured memories they created with her.
Norma has been lovingly reunited with her late father Ismael Brignoni; mother Patrica Arocho Brignoni; and her brothers, Hermes and Junior Brignoni, who preceded her in passing.
Norma’s professional life was marked by her role as a conscientious Bank Manager and her unwavering dedication as a Domestic Engineer. An alumna of Jane Adams High School, she took pride in her education and the accomplishments that followed. Passionate about music, literature, and the art of cuisine, Norma found joy in enriching in the lives of others. Her excellence in the kitchen was surpassed only by her generous spirit and desire to comfort and provide happiness to those around her.
As we bid farewell to Norma Hernandez , the family suggests that in lieu of traditional floral tributes , contributions be directed to St Jude or Sloan Kettering Hospital, in acknowledgment of Norma’s compassionate and giving nature.
Norma’s legacy is woven into the fabric of the lives she touched, and her memory shall be enshrined within the collective heart of her family and friends. May she rest in grace and peace, knowing she was dearly loved and will be profoundly missed.
Family and friends will gather for a visitation on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 from 12 noon to 1 p.m. at Straub Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street in Wappingers Falls. A funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Entombment will then follow at Fishkill Rural Cemetery, 801 Route 9 in Fishkill.
