Obituary of Dean G. Chapman

Dean G. Chapman of Wappingers Falls entered into rest Sunday, December 10, 2023. He was 61.

Son of Kenneth and Cheryl Thomas Chapman, he was born May 31, 1962 in Poughkeepsie. He married Camille Cappello on October 29, 2011; Mrs. Chapman survives at home.

Dean worked as an IT specialist for many years for IBM and, most recently, the MTA in New York City. He was also an adjunct computer science professor at Dutchess Community College. In his spare time, Dean was an avid runner and could often be seen at Gold’s Gym. He enjoyed running in the Dutchess County Classic, Turkey Trot and the Joseph McDonald Memorial Run. He also volunteered with Love, Inc. and their furniture ministry, the Deyo Family Association in New Paltz and several community events with John Flowers. Dean was a loving and supportive father, always supporting his children in their sports and events.

In addition to his parents, Kenneth and Cheryl Chapman of Adelphi, MD, survivors include his wife, Camille Cappello-Chapman at home; his children, Kenneth L. Chapman and Deona L. Chapman; his step-son, John A. Baker, Jr.; his brothers, Guy S. Chapman of Oakland, CA, Barry K. Chapman of Poughkeepsie and Kyle S. Chapman of Severn, MD; several nieces and nephews; and many cousins.
 

He was predeceased by his grandparents, Ella Chapman Washington, Kenneth Y. Chapman, Sr., Beryl Lynch Thomas and Dudley S. Thomas; and many aunts and uncles.

Family will receive friends on Monday, December 18, 2023 from 10:30 am to 12 noon at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street in Wappingers Falls. There will be opportunity for a time of remembrance during this time. Interment will follow in Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery, Poughkeepsie.
