Obituary of Shawn Michael Kelly

Shawn Michael Kelly, a lifelong resident of Wappingers Falls, passed away suddenly surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, February 25, 2016 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie. He was 26. Son of Michael Kelly and Janice Vidunas Kelly, he was born July 11, 1989 in Poughkeepsie. Shawn was a loving free spirit who loved his family, friends and animals. He was an avid Yankees and Jets fan. He loved the time spent at the family lake house in Lake Wallenpaupack, PA where he enjoyed snowboarding, snowmobiling, riding the quad and tubing. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him and loved him, especially his sister, Jess. Survivors include his mother, Janice Kelly and Bob DeLuca of Wappingers Falls; his father, Michael Kelly of Buffalo; his sister, Jessica Kelly of Wappingers Falls; his grandmother, Helen Vidunas of Wappingers Falls; his uncle, Eugene Vidunas and his wife, Bernadette; his cousins, Joe, Jake, Owen, Stefan and Johnnie; as well as his beloved dog, Bear. Family will receive friends on Sunday, February 28, 2016 from 3 to 7 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street in Wappingers Falls. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Monday, February 29, 2016 at St. Mary's Church, 11 Clinton Street in Wappingers Falls. Interment will follow in Fishkill Rural Cemetery, 801 Route 9 in Fishkill. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Shawn's name may be made to a Catholic charity of your choice.
