Obituary of Barbara A. Clausen

Barbara A. Clausen of Wappingers Falls entered into rest Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at home. She was 90.

Daughter of the late William and Eunice Fishbach Erhard, she was born on February 17, 1933 in Poughkeepsie. She married Louis Clausen on June 27, 1957; Mr. Clausen survives at home.

Barbara spent her years making a warm and loving home for her husband and four children. She also volunteered for decades, spending 20 years with Grinnell Library and also teaching Sunday school at the Methodist Church in Wappingers Falls. She was a founding member and volunteer for Meals on Wheels of Wappingers Falls. Barbara enjoyed competitive tennis at Cross Court into her 50’s. She was competitive in everything she did, including mini golf and ping pong. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed cooking, baking, pickling and making candy.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son, Aaron Clausen and his fiancée, Debbie; daughter, Amy Greiner and her husband, Harold; sisters, Jean Husted and Joan Waters; grandchildren, Heather (Dan) O’Callahan, Erin Rose Clausen, Kaitlyn Furer (Urs), Megan Greiner, and Kayla Bedell (Eric); great-grandchildren, Angel, Jayson, Louis, Emily, Eric Liam, Lillyann and Danny; and several nieces and nephews.
 

Barbara was predeceased by her sons, David and Eric, her grandson, Jaime, and her brother, Charles Erhard.

Family will receive friends on Saturday, October 14, 2023 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street in Wappingers Falls; a memorial service will be held at the conclusion of visitation at 6:30 p.m.
