Obituary of Patrick F. Joyce

Patrick F. Joyce, a 20 year resident of Wappingers Falls and formerly of the Bronx and Yonkers, entered into rest Monday, February 15, 2016 at his home. He was 92. Son of the late Michael and Mary McGrath Joyce, he was born March 16, 1923 in Galway, Ireland. He married the love of his life, the former Mary Deane on October 11, 1952 at St. Francis de Sales Church in New York City. Mrs. Joyce survives at home in Wappingers Falls. Prior to his retirement, Patrick worked for the New York City Department of Sanitation. He was a parishioner of St. Mary's Church in Wappingers Falls. Patrick loved New York Sports, especially the Yankees. He also enjoyed gardening. Most importantly, he will be remembered as a quiet and kind man, with a great sense of humor, who lived for his family. In addition to his wife of 63 years, Mary Joyce, he is survived by his daughters, Maureen and Pete Kennedy, Betty and John Lee, Ann Joyce, and Barbara and Tom Boyle; his son, Dennis and Tara Joyce; his grandchildren, Kieran, Kaitlyn, Shaun and Suzie Kennedy, Patrick and Maureen Lee, Brian, Michael and Brendan Boyle, and Jack, Molly and Brodie Joyce; and two great-granddaughters, Drew and Stella Kennedy. He is also survived by his brother, Joseph Joyce and wife, Mildred and sister, Peggy Joyce of Galway, Ireland. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters, Mary Gibson, Bridie Hackleton, Nora Geoghegan and Anne Lydon; and his brothers, John, Michael and Coleman Joyce. Family will receive friends on Thursday, February 18, 2016 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Friday, February 19 at St. Mary's Church, 11 Clinton Street in Wappingers Falls.
