Obituary of Peter Morettoni
Peter A. Morettoni entered into rest Tuesday, March 14, 2023. He was 64.
Peter was born on September 12, 1958, in Poughkeepsie. He spent his early years with family. While he moved a few times in his younger days, he finally settled in Poughquag. Peter was able to enjoy the beautiful countryside, sharing a home with a few friends that became his extended family. Peter was fortunate to have a team of people who worked for him that loved him deeply.
Peter enjoyed traveling around the scenic countryside of the beautiful Hudson Valley. He enjoyed being active in his community, whether it was hanging out at the local bowling alley, enjoying a great meal out or attending an outdoor concert, he loved to be out and about.
Peter loved the music of his youth, but he had a strong preference for reggae. Bob Marley, a personal favorite of Peter’s once famously said, “One good thing about music - when it hits you, you feel no pain.” During the difficult times, as well as the best of times, music continued to be a great source of comfort and pleasure for Peter and many recall seeing his soul moving along to songs he was enjoying.
Those who knew him best would say that his smile and high fives were highly sought after displays of his appreciation and affection. He had a fabulous sense of humor and would often just have to give a glance or say a word or two that would have everyone around him erupting in laughter.
Peter’s family is deeply grateful to his caring staff and advocates at Greystone Programs for enabling Peter to live a rich and fulfilling life over the past four decades.
In addition to his Greystone family, Peter is survived by his brother Paul Morettoni of Millbrook. He was predeceased by his mother, Phyllis Erma (Wood), his father Fanual, and sister Margaret.
Friends will gather at 1p on Thursday , March 23, 2023 at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street in Wappingers Falls. A funeral service will take place at 2p. A gathering of family and friends will happen immediately afterwards at his home in Poughquag.
