Obituary of Frances Abrusci

Frances Abrusci was born on March 12th, 1958 in Brooklyn, NY to Peter and Anna Denaro. She attended St Theresa’s before moving to Lindenhurst, Long Island at the beginning of high school and graduated from Lindenhurst High School. She married her husband Dominick in 1983 and moved to Dutchess County. Her son Michael was born in 1990. Fran was a dedicated mother and went above and beyond. Fran was always involved in her son’s school activities and

around the neighborhood was known as the neighborhood mom, always providing a place of comfort with open arms for all the neighborhood children. Fran got more involved as Michael began a career in the music industry and Fran put together multiple cancer benefits in Bowdoin Park, toy drives for different charities including the John Flowers Foundation and the Family Partnership of Poughkeepsie, and local music showcases for the local artists. Over the years Fran became a universal mom to almost everyone she encountered and has become known and beloved for her compassion and her heart of gold. 

Fran is survived by her husband Dominick, her son Michael, and her 2 grandchildren who she began fostering in November, and of course her music kids who she loved dearly. Fran was a beacon of light for the Hudson valley, played a large role in many lives, and will be missed by many. 

Family and friends will gather on Monday, March 13, 2023 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street in Wappingers Falls.

** DUE TO PREDICTED WEATHER NOTE CHANGE** A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 15 at St. Mary’s Church, 11 Clinton Street in Wappingers Falls. Interment will follow in Wappingers Rural Cemetery, West Main Street in Wappingers Falls.
