Obituary of Jeffrey L. Cassard

Jeffrey Lewis Cassard, 65, of the Town of Poughkeepsie, passed away suddenly on January 17, 2023.

Son of May Cassard of Carrollton, TX and the late Lawrence J. Cassard, Jeff was born on March 17, 1957 in Hartford, CT.  He grew up in Harrison, NY and Houston, TX, and graduated from Memorial Senior High School there. He relocated to Poughkeepsie, NY in the 1980’s, married the love of his life Janet, and they made a blessed life together.

Jeff loved the outdoors.  A Texas boy at heart, he enjoyed camping, hunting, and kayaking.  Always an animal lover, he and Janet had a number of dogs through the years, each one loved as much as the last.  Jeff loved his family and was always there when needed – every conversation ended with ‘Love you’.  He was a loyal employee at Stop and Shop for over 30 years.  Jeff was well read, and loved conversing with others about world events, politics, and life.

Jeff is survived by his devoted mother May Cassard, and beloved family members:  sister and brother-in-law Nancy and Jerry Natowitz of Ashland, MA, brother and sister-in-law David and Roxanne Cassard of Lewisville, TX, and sister Robin Cassard of Carrollton, TX; sister and brother-in-law, Donna and Paul Harrison of Pleasant Valley, NY; daughter, Jennifer Rubino of Hartford, CT; daughter and son-in-law, Wendy and Michael Kent of Pleasant Valley, NY; and daughter and son-in-law, Tricia and Jeff Mool of Asheville, NC.

Additionally, Jeff leaves behind 6 grandchildren: Brandon, Tyler, Remi, Anthony, Sal and Gabby; his nieces, Renee, Bonnie, Lydia, Celia, Hannah, and grand-niece Ava; nephew, Doug; as well as many beloved cousins, extended family members, and friends.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, January 23, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 E. Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY.  Interment will follow in Wappingers Rural Cemetery, Wappingers Falls.
