Obituary of Cameron John Adorno

Cameron John “CJ” Adorno, a long time resident of Dutchess County died December 14, 2022. He was 25.

He was born on February 26, 1997 in Peekskill to Bruce W. Adorno and Dorreen Ruocco.

CJ was a longtime resident of Dutchess County, after moving up here from Westchester County when he was in middle school. He was generous in spirit and always willing to lend a helping hand, He was patient in nature which was clearly evident when he was with his younger brother Bryson.

He loved listening to music, expressing himself through his love for tattoos, and most of all loved spending time with family and friends. He considered his father to be his best friend and was never happier than when they were together. He was an excellent swimmer; he loved all things associated with water and spent many summers with his family boating on the Hudson River, where he loved fishing for stripers, tubing, and water skiing, of which he excelled.

As a child he loved fire engines which as he grew turned into a love for fireworks and always went to the firework displays on the 4th of July. He also loved Christmas and Christmas lights. From a young age he was decorating his home with lights and colorful ornaments. As an adult he worked with a company that professionally decorated homes for the holidays. He was in his element in this job, and he did it for many years. He was also a whiz with electronics, especially cell phones. He helped many people with their phones, most especially his grandmother who would volunteer his services to many of her friends/family. He was always willing to help, and he displayed a great deal of patience during these times.

The number of lives CJ touched is extensive. He left an impression on the lives of everyone he encountered. He was selfless when it came to the ones he loved and wore his kind and gentle heart displayed boldly on his sleeve. He will be remembered for his excellent sense of humor and his infectious laugh.  He will be greatly missed. Just know anytime you're feeling down that CJ's smiling over you trying to make you laugh.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his step-mother, Jeanette Adorno; grandparents, Karen Adorno and Bruce J. Adorno. CJ loved his Grandma more than words can express. They had a very close and special relationship. He is also survived by his siblings, Angela, Alisha, Briana and Bryson Adorno, Elizabeth Cortes, Davian Torres and cousins, Gianna and Ashlee Adorno and Destiny Jordan who were loved like siblings. CJ had many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was especially close to his uncle Brett and Aunt Penny Adorno. as well as Kelly Gatto who he loved to tease as a child. He had countless friends. CJ was a proud uncle to Kaiden, Jordan, Lorenzo, Hayes, Aiden and Ismael.

He was predeceased by family members Nancy Reiss (aunt), Ralph and Sunday Adorno (grandparents), Alexander (Sandy) Jack (grandfather), Shirley Saunders (great grandmother), Lynne Schibbelhute (aunt) and Alyssa Passantino (cousin, loved as sibling).

Family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 21, 2022 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street in Wappingers Falls.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 22 at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Washington Avenue in Beacon.
