Obituary of Amelia "Snooky" Bohlinger

Amelia “Snooky” Bohlinger of the Town of Poughkeepsie entered into rest Friday, September 30, 2022 at home. She was 86.

Daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Cavanaugh) Perusse, she was born on July 13, 1936 in Poughkeepsie; she was raised in New Hamburg. Amelia married Joseph B. Bohlinger on February 18, 1961 at the New Hackensack Reformed Church. Together, they built their house in the Town of Poughkeepsie where she spent her years making a warm and loving home for her husband and two sons. Mr. Bohlinger preceded her in death, passing October 31, 2015.

Survivors include her sons, Joseph M. Bohlinger (Linda) and Richard J. Bohlinger (Michele); brothers, James Perusse, Jackie Perusse and Frank Perusse; grandchildren, Joseph, Steven, Michael, Matthew and Robert Bohlinger, and Kaitlyn Krebs; great-grandchildren, Elliot, Charlee, Mason, Savannah and Stella; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her sisters, Teresa Croke, Mary Bisagna and Jeanine Bohlinger.

Family will receive their friends on Thursday, October 6, 2022 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 E. Main Street in Wappingers Falls.

A funeral service will be held at 12 noon at the funeral home, following visitation. Interment will immediately follow in Wappingers Rural Cemetery, West Main Street in Wappingers Falls.
