Obituary of Mary S. Gruendle

Mary Lela Scofield Gruendle, a resident of the Village of Wappingers Falls, entered into rest Saturday, December 26, 2015 at her home. She was 83. Daughter of the late Edward C. and Mildred Baxter Scofield, she was born December 12, 1932 in Wappingers Falls. She married Donald E. Gruendle on October 13, 1951. Don currently resides at Wingate at Dutchess in Fishkill. Mary was a graduate of Wappingers Central Schools. She previously owned and operated Nature's Pantry Health Food Store. Mary was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Mahwenawasigh Chapter in Poughkeepsie. She was an active member of the United Methodist Church of Wappingers Falls. Survivors include her sons, Jerry D. Gruendle of Poughkeepsie and Allan Gruendle of Wappingers Falls; her grandchildren, Kristen Carlson, Nicholas Murray, Heather Hulsander, Wesley Murray, Bradley Gruendle and Brittney Gruendle; eight great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters, Anne Gruendle, Jane Gioia and Millicent Scofield and her daughter, Ann Murray. A memorial service to celebrate Mary's life will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at the United Methodist Church of Wappingers Falls, 9 S. Mesier Avenue, Wappingers Falls with Pastor Scharlise Dorsey officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
