Obituary of Mary Joyce

Mary Joyce, a resident of Wappingers Falls, entered into rest Thursday, July 28, 2022 at her home. She was 91.

Daughter of the late John and Mary Deane, she was born in County Mayo in Ireland on July 16, 1931. She married Patrick F. Joyce on October 11, 1952 at St. Francis de Sales Church in New York City. Mr. Joyce preceded her in death on February 15, 2016.

Prior to her retirement, Mary worked as a Nursing Assistant at the Methodist Church Nursing Home in Riverdale. She attended St. Mary’s Church in Wappingers Falls. She was known for crocheting, especially baby blankets. Mary lived for her children.  She will be forever remembered as a strong woman and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her children, Maureen Kennedy and her husband, Pete, Ann Joyce, Betty Lee and her husband, John, Barbara Boyle and her husband, Tom and Dennis Joyce and his wife, Tara; her sisters, Sabina Armshaw and Betty Murphy; her eleven grandchildren, Kieran and Carmen, Shaun and Suzie, Kaitlyn and Josh, Patrick, Maureen and Alex, Brian, Michael, Brendan, Jack, Molly, and Brodie; her five great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband of sixty-three years, she was predeceased by her sisters, Briddie Flynn, Catherine O’Halloran and Madge O’Leary and her brothers, Martin Deane, Michael Deane and Sean Deane.

The family would like to thank Hudson Valley Hospice for their support and care of Mary.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 4, 2022 at St. Mary’s Church, Clinton Street in Wappingers Falls. Inurnment will follow in Fishkill Rural Cemetery, Route 9 in Fishkill.
