Obituary of Gyvonne E. Allen

Gyvonne E. "Vonnie" Allen, a resident of Hopewell Junction, entered into rest Thursday, December 24, 2015 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie. She was 90. Daughter of the late Benjamin and Mary Wineholt Krebs, she was born October 2, 1925 in Glen Rock, Pennsylvania. She attended Temple University where she met her future husband, Lowell "Bud" Allen, at a dance. She married Bud on October 12, 1946. He preceded her in death on June 6, 1999. Vonnie worked as an executive secretary at the Philadelphia Electric Company before she had children. When her children were younger, she was a Girl Scout leader and a Sunday School teacher. Most importantly, she will be remembered as caring and devoted to her family; especially her husband, children and grandchildren. Survivors include her daughter, Gail E. Allen of Stamford, Connecticut and her fiancé, Mark W. O'Brien; her son, Brian G. Allen and his wife, Lenore and their daughters, Erica, Emily and Ava of Hopewell Junction; her sister, Norma McCullough and her deceased husband, George and their son, Greg and his wife, Marsha and their son, Gregg of Pennsylvania; as well as several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law in Maine. Family will receive their friends on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 from 4 to 5 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 E. Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590.
