Obituary of Mary H. Wanco

Mary Wanco received her angel wings to fly free on June 16, 2022 at the age of 71.

She was born in Yonkers, NY to her parents Henry and Viola Sherwood who predeceased her.

Mary will be flying free for eternity to be with her loving husband, Donald P. Wanco and her son, Donald C. Wanco who predeceased her. Mary and Donald married in Yonkers, NY in 1969 and were married for 50 years. Together they made so many memories that will be treasured and carried on by all that knew them.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Melissa Landolfi and son in law, Jay Landolfi; her sisters, Louise Del’Ostia and Viveca Monahan and family; brother in law, Peter Wanco; her pride and joy were her grandchildren, Tyler and Kyle Landolfi and DJ, Austin, and Logan Wanco. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and lifelong friends.

Mary retired from Reader's Digest in Pleasantville, NY in 2008. In her retirement she enjoyed sewing with her friends, playing the slot machines at the casinos, cooking and spending time with all her friends. Her favorite thing to do was watch her grandsons play baseball. She never missed a game and would travel anywhere they played to be their biggest and loudest cheerleader. She treasured every moment she spent with them. She was proud of each of them and every milestone they accomplished.

Until we meet again…Always on my mind, forever in my heart…Your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure. You are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure.    

Family will receive their friends on Wednesday, June 22, 2022 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 E. Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday, June 23, 2022 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, Clinton Street in Wappingers Falls. Interment will follow in Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery, Poughkeepsie.
