Obituary of Josephine Maines

Josephine Maines of Poughkeepsie entered into rest Sunday, June 5, 2022 at MidHudson Regional Hospital in Poughkeepsie. She was 79.   

Daughter of the late Vincent and Mary (Piccolo) Oppedisano, she was born on February 1, 1943 in Poughkeepsie.

Josephine worked for 45 years as a registered nurse for the former St. Francis Hospital in Poughkeepsie, until her retirement in 2008. She was also a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Poughkeepsie.

Survivors include her son, Michael Maines and his wife, Holly of Syracuse; grandson, Alexander Maines of Syracuse; nephew, Vincent Oppedisano and his wife, Amanda of Poughkeepsie; great-nephews, Joseph and Nicholas Oppedisano of Poughkeepsie; and great-niece, Kasara Oppedisano of Poughkeepsie.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Anthony Oppedisano and her sister, Norma Oppedisano.

Family will receive friends on Friday, June 10, 2022 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. following visitation at St. Peter’s Cemetery, Salt Point Turnpike in Poughkeepsie.
