Obituary of Carol Jane Walker

Carol Jane Walker, a resident of the Town of Wappinger since 1966 and formerly of Peekskill, passed away on Tuesday, March 29, 2022 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. She was 86.

Daughter of the late Mary P. Nohai and Arthur E. Mansfield, she was born in Peekskill on October 13, 1935. On April 1, 1956, she married Robert G. Walker in Peekskill; Mr. Walker predeceased her in 2010.

Carol Jane loved collecting roosters and chickens, and treasured ones from her collection that she received from family and friends. She was devoted to her church, Zion Episcopal, in the Village of Wappingers Falls. There, she was formerly a Sunday school teacher, a member of the Altar Guild from 1979 and served as Matron from 1988 to 2014. She was a past member of New Hackensack Fire Ladies Auxiliary.

Survivors include her brother, Robert A. Mansfield of Middletown; daughters, Eileen Greifenstein of the state of Florida and Marialice Olsen of Wappingers Falls; sons, Michael A. Walker of Vermont and Thomas R. Walker of Wappingers Falls; 13 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Family will receive their friends on Thursday, March 31, 2022 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 E. Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 1, 2022 at 11 a.m. at Zion Episcopal Church, Satterlee Place in Wappingers Falls. The family has requested fire and military guests wear their dress uniforms.
