Obituary of James Lane

James Randolph ”Randy”  Lane, 65, of Clinton Corners, NY passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at Vassar Brothers Medical Center on Wednesday January 12, 2022, after a lengthy illness.

 Randy was born on January 30, 1956 to Loretta and James Lane on Bell Island, Newfoundland, Canada. His family immigrated to the U.S. when he was a young boy. After graduation from James I. O'Neill High School in Highland Falls, NY, Randy attended King's College in PA and Rochester Institute of Technology. He was employed at IBM, East Fishkill for 25 years as an engineering technician.

Randy is survived by his beloved wife of 41 years, Elizabeth, his son James (Jamie) and granddaughter Emma, whom he loved deeply. He is also survived by his brother Joseph Lane, numerous cousins in Canada, his Uncle Bill Ford and his loyal and best friend Dan Nolan. He was predeceased by his parents, Loretta and James Lane and his brother, Terence Lane.

Anyone that truly knew him, knew had a very big heart and always loved to make others smile and laugh. A lifelong athlete himself, he developed a passion for coaching, especially his first love, Ice Hockey. He was fiercely competitive on the ice but always expected his players to display good sportsmanship. He coached the Millbrook Club Hockey High School team to two Mid-Hudson Club Championships while making it the the finals five consecutive years, being named Poughkeepsie Journal’s Coach of the Year in 1999. Randy will will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Calling hours will be Wednesday, January 19, 2022 from 4 to 8 pm at the Straub Catalano and Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main St, Wappingers Falls, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday, January 20, 2022 at 10 am at Our Lady of the Rosary Chapel of St. Peter’s Parish, 185 Hudson View Drive, Poughkeepsie, NY. The burial will follow at St. Peters Cemetery, 171 Salt Point Turnpike, Poughkeepsie, NY.
