Clarence S. Gregory, a long-time resident of the Town of Poughkeepsie, died peacefully at home on Tuesday morning, September 14, 2021.

Mr. Gregory was born in 1928 in Kingston, NY, to Joseph and Agnes (Szustecka) Gregory.  He was one of eight children and is survived by his brother, Joseph Gregory of Kingston, NY. Mr. Gregory was a graduate of Immaculate Conception of Mary School in Kingston, NY, and of Kingston High School.  Trained as a tool-and-die machinist as a teenager during World War II, Mr. Gregory became a lifelong craftsman of notable creativity, often sought out to solve mechanical challenges others could not.  He joined IBM in 1951 and applied his talents in a number of technical positions at IBM throughout the Hudson Valley until his retirement in 1991.

Throughout the years, Mr. Gregory worshipped actively with the communities of Saint Martin de Porres Church, Town of Poughkeepsie, Saint Mary’s Church, Wappingers Falls, Mount Alvernia Seminary, Wappingers Falls, and Our Lady of Hope, Newburgh, NY.

He was an avid gardener and a keen observer of nature in all its forms. Also, Mr. Gregory was a dedicated community-service volunteer with former St. Francis Hospital’s greenhouse and print shop. Above all, he will be remembered as a loving husband and father, and a man of profound faith in God.
