Obituary of Rita D. Lange

Rita D. Lange, 91, of Wappingers Falls, passed from this life into eternal life on Monday June 28, 2021 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie.

Rita was born on June 8, 1930 in Poughkeepsie, New York, the daughter of the late Carlo DeFelice and Philippa Facchini DeFelice. Rita grew up in a happy home with her parents and her older brother, Francis. She enjoyed going on picnics and traditional Italian family gatherings on Sundays. She married Lawrence K. Lange on September 23, 1962. Together they had 3 children.

Rita graduated from Rochester Business Institute and received a Master’s Degree from Mount Saint Mary College in 1982.

Rita was a devout Catholic and an active parishioner at St. Mary’s Church in Wappingers Falls. Rita had a generous spirit; she typically put the needs of others above all else.

She is survived at home by her husband, Lawrence K. Lange; her children, Cheryl Lange of Wappingers Falls (Gregg Barber), Kenneth Lange of Wappingers Falls (Kristen Buckley), and Lori Ann Lange of Bethesda, MD.  She is also survived by grandchildren, Andrew Mercer (Ashley), Erica Kubikowski (Matthew), Haley Lange, Tyler Lange, and Alyssa Lange, and great-granddaughter, Gabriella Mercer.

Family will receive their friends on Thursday, July 1, 2021 from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at Straub Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 E. Main St. Wappingers Falls, NY 12590.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated following visitation at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, 11 Clinton Street in Wappingers Falls. Interment will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Wappingers Falls.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Church, 11 Clinton Street Wappingers Falls, NY 12590.
