Obituary of George K. Martin

George K. Martin, Jr. passed away on Friday, January 22, 2021 at Wingate at Beacon. George was born in Manhattan on June 17, 1937 to George Martin and Marie Jeck Martin. He married Julia Lee Martin who predeceased him in 1995. George served as a cook in the Armed Forces and later worked as a butcher or delivery person until retirement. Throughout his life George enjoyed watching the Buffalo Bills, who he considered to be the only NY team, playing cards, fishing, dining out with his family and an occasional trip to Atlantic City. George is survived by his daughter Candace and her husband Gil Escalante, son Scott and his wife Anne, 3 grandchildren, Julia and husband Jeffrey Nichols, Luke and John. Each have very special memories of time spent with "Pop". We will miss him. George is also survived by his brother Jimmy and wife Ann, as well as nieces and cousins. He often spoke of how happy he was to reconnect with them in his later years. In accordance with George's wishes, funeral services were private. Family members are grateful to Straub, Catalano and Halvey for their support and expertise. Family members also wish to thank Wingate at Beacon for George's care in the past few years.
