Obituary of Ilse R. Chavanne

Ilse R. Chavanne, a resident of Pleasant Valley, entered into rest Sunday, January 3, 2021 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie. She was 87. Daughter of the late Ignaz and Wilhelmine Schludi Lorenzi, she was born August 8, 1933 in Bolzano, Italy. She married Edgar Chavanne on July 15, 1964. They came to the United States in 1989. Mr. Chavanne preceded her in death on July 31, 2013. Ilse enjoyed gardening and liked classical and opera music. She will be remembered as a loving wife and wonderful mother. Survivors include her sons, Pierre Chavanne and his wife, Melissa McDaniel of California and Klaus Chavanne and his wife, Joanne Holder of Pleasant Valley; her grandchildren, Alex and Erin Chavanne; as well as her brother, Herbert Lorenzi of Italy. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, January 8, 2021 at Wappingers Rural Cemetery, West Main Street in Wappingers Falls. In compliance with NYS guidelines, wearing masks and social distancing are required. Memorial donations in Ilse’s name may be made to the Dutchess County SPCA, 636 Violet Avenue, Hyde Park, NY 12538.
