Obituary of John D. Ciccarelli

John D. Ciccarelli, 68, an area resident of Palm City, Florida since 2007 and formerly a 33 year resident of Wappingers Falls, passed away on Monday, March 24, 2014 at The Harper Hospice House in Stuart, Florida with his wife and loving family by his side. Born in Yonkers, NY on December 24, 1945, he was the youngest son of the late John and Mary Ciccarelli. He proudly served our country in the US Air Force and was a graduate of Pace University. John, "Chick" as he was called by his friends, enjoyed spending his spare time on the baseball field. An Umpire in the Hudson Valley Umpires Association for over 35 years, John would often spend his nights telling his wife and family of his experiences on the ball field. He enjoyed playing chess with his son, talking sports, watching old westerns, talking politics with whomever would listen and just spending time with his wife. His life was filled with wonderful family. John is survived by his wife of 45 years in June, Barbara J. Ciccarelli. They were married on June 28, 1969 at Immaculate Conception Church in Eastchester, NY. John is also survived by his children and their spouses, Christine Meister and her husband, James of Wappingers Falls and Mark V. Ciccarelli and his wife, Kerry H. also of Wappingers Falls. John also relished in visiting with and speaking about his grandchildren; soon to be black belts, Kaitlyn and Tyler Meister, and dancers Jillian Ciccarelli and Taylor Hernandez. John is also survived by his older brother, Vincent Ciccarelli, who resides in Scottsdale AZ, numerous loving cousins, nieces and nephews. He was also pre-deceased by his loving In-laws, Robert & Helen Head. Family will receive friends on Sunday, March 30, 2014 from 2 to 6 p.m. at Straub Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home located at 55 East Main Street, Wappinger Falls, NY 12590. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, March 31 at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, West Stevens Avenue, Hawthorne with military honors following.
