Obituary of Anthony Zizolfo

Anthony Zizolfo, 79, continued his journey with God on January 13th, 2020 surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Joanie (Del Greco). They shared in 57 years of marriage together. Born in “The” Bronx, NY, he was the son of Antonino and Rosaria Zizolfo. Anthony lived his life as a mechanic, a cabinet maker, and was a business owner in New York’s Garment Industry. He retired in 2005 as Head Carpenter of The United Hospital Medical Center in Port Chester, NY. He was a proud member and third degree Knight of the Wappingers Falls Chapter 1646 of the Knights of Columbus. Anthony enjoyed painting and woodworking in his spare time. He also enjoyed spending quality time with his family and friends, sharing a meal or a conversation, paired with fine wine or scotch. A devoted Yankee fan, Anthony could often be found watching a game on TV or at the stadium. Anthony will be remembered for being selfless and generous, as well as always being the strongest man in the room. He never forgot the beauty of sarcasm and the humor to be found in everyday obstacles. Anthony is survived but his wife Joanie; children Josephine (Carlos), Anthony (Denise), Robert, and Mark (Rob); grandchildren Mark, Matthew (Brandie), Anne (Eric), Ashleigh, Corina, Melina, Sofia, Simon, and Juliana; and great grandson Blaine. He was predeceased by his siblings Sarah (Steve), Theresa (Mike), Rosie (Jerry), Gloria (Tommy), Julie, Camille (Eddie), Josie (Nick), Johnny, and Mario. The visitation will be held from 2-4pm & 6-9pm on Thursday, January 16,2020 at Straub, Catalano, and Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street in Wappingers Falls, NY. The funeral service will be held at 10 am on Saturday, January 18 at St. Mary’s Church, 11 Clinton Street in Wappingers Falls, NY. Inurnment will follow in Fishkill Rural Cemetery, Fishkill.
