Obituary of Dolores V. Arnhold
On December 11, 2019, Dolores Veronica Arnhold passed away after a long illness. Never one to give up or give in, Dolores persisted in her search for an improved life despite her chronic pain issues. She offered inspiration to her family and those that knew her because of her strength, tenacity, and unshakeable resolve.
Dolores was born in the Bronx on July 31, 1932 to the late Philip and Victoria Tarasevich Allen. She met the love her life, Bill Arnhold, in Lake Carmel when she was 14 years old. She and Bill enjoyed 66 years of marital bliss.
Dolores graduated from high school in the Bronx with a specialty in cosmetology. A homemaker since she was 18, she kept a beautiful home that she decorated with a stylish flair. She always demonstrated an artistic talent that was realized in her dress, home, garden and when entertaining. Besides the great love she shared with her husband until his passing in 2017, her greatest joy in life was her family, her dog “Sophie”, her home and garden. She also loved music and it was rare for her house to not to be filled with it.
Dolores is survived by her children, Karen Falanga, Barbara (Russell) Roberti, and William “Bill” (Lisa) Arnhold. She is also survived by her eight grandchildren who adored her: Victoria Lusk (Matthew) Harris, Alexandra Lusk, Marina (Kyle) Tarkos, Russell (Jennifer) Roberti, Michael Roberti, Amanda Munderville, Ashley (Alfonse) Perrone and William “Billy” (Karisa) Arnhold. She was also blessed with six great-grandchildren, William, Anastasia, Olivia, Peyton, Aaliyah and Alfonse, III.
A celebration of her life will take place on Thursday, December 12, 2019 from 3 to 8 pm at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 E. Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590.
A funeral service will be held at 9:30 am at St. Mary’s Church, 11 Clinton Street in Wappingers Falls. Interment will follow in Kensico Cemetery, 273 Lakeview Avenue in Valhalla.
