Obituary of Barbara E. Habinowski

Barbara E. Habinowski, a resident of Wappingers Falls, entered into rest Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at her home. She was 91.

Daughter of the late Myron Griffin and Fay Wirhouski, she was born January 12, 1927 in Newburgh. She married Joseph W. Habinowski on September 26, 1948 at St. Joseph’s Church in Poughkeepsie. Mr. Habinowski preceded her in death on February 26, 1997.

Prior to her retirement, she worked as a telephone supervisor for IBM in Poughkeepsie. She was a parishioner of St. Peter’s Church in Poughkeepsie. Barbara had a passion for crafts and animals.  

Survivors include her children, Debra Arco and her husband, Carl of Highland, Gary Habinowski, Sr. and his wife, Lynne of Poughquag, Mark Habinowski and his companion, Patricia Fell of Wappingers Falls; her son-in-law, Michael Adcock of Folsom, California; her grandchildren, Crystal (Charles) LaManna, Gary (Cindy) Habinowski, Jr., Jenna (Regan) Saunders, Brett Adcock, Amanda (Clayton) Hinkley, Taylor Habinowski, and Brianna Habinowski; eight great-grandchildren; as well as many friends from the Beacon Friendship Center in Beacon through the Office of the Aging.

In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her daughter, Karen Adcock on February 15, 2018.

Family will receive their friends on Sunday, October 21, 2018 from 4 to 7  p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 E. Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, October 22 at the funeral home. Interment will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery, Salt Point Turnpike in Poughkeepsie.
