Obituary of Maria Orjuela

Maria Orjuela, a resident of Wappingers Falls, entered into rest Thursday, July 12, 2018 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie. She was 92.

Daughter of the late Elias and Mercedes Amarillo, she was born August 23, 1925 in Macheta, Colombia. She married Celiano Orjuela on December 22, 1962 in Colombia. Mr. Orjuela survives at home in Wappingers Falls. She was a devoted parishioner of St. Mary’s Church in Wappingers Falls.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Jose Amarillo and his wife, Carmen of Poughkeepsie, Armando Amarillo of Norwalk, Connecticut, and Nancy Stokes of Wappingers Falls; her brother, Custodio Amarillo; her sister, Primitiva Amarillo; as well as her grandchildren, Nicole, Amanda, Andrea and Sindy.

Family will receive friends on Monday, July 16, 2018 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street in Wappingers Falls.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 17 at St. Mary’s Church, 11 Clinton Street in Wappingers Falls. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Clinton Street in Wappingers Falls.
