Obituary of Louis J. Marven

Louis J. "Lou" Marven, Jr., 57, of Wappingers Falls died October 31, 2013 at his home. Lou who was born December 12, 1955, grew up in Brewster and attended John F. Kennedy High School in Somers. He obtained his degree in accounting from Nathaniel Hawthorne College in Keene, New Hampshire. After college, Lou worked for the Lloyd Lumber Company providing accounting services. He resided in Wappingers Falls for more than 30 years where he helped raise his three children. In addition to working as a tax consultant, Lou worked for the Poughkeepsie Journal for numerous years. He is survived by his three children, Louis Marven, III and his partner, Shaun Espenshade of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, René Marven of Las Vegas, Nevada and Thomas Marven of Wappingers Falls; his mother, Alma Marven of Sarasota, Florida; his sister, Elaine Avery and her husband, Michael of New London, Connecticut; his brother, Bill Marven of Wingdale; his sister Caroline Slowik and her husband, Joe of Middletown; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Louis Marven. A Funeral Mass will be offered at 10 a.m. on Friday, November 8, 2013 at St. Mary's Church, 11 Clinton Street, Wappingers Falls. Arrangements are under the direction of Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls.
