Obituary of Sharon L. Vavrica

Sharon L. Vavrica of Lagrange entered into rest Monday, September 16, 2013 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie. She was 66. Daughter of the late Robert Davis Tyner and Nora Mae Smith Tyner, she was born on September 7, 1947 in Rockingham, North Carolina. She married the love of her life and her best friend, Anton Vavrica on April 27, 1968; Mr. Vavrica survives at home. Mrs. Vavrica worked as a dog groomer for Barking Boutique in Yonkers. She considered her dogs to be like children to her. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening. Most important to her was family; she was always there when they needed her. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Robert Poole and his wife, Linda of Aberdeen, NC, Gary Tyner and his wife, Christina of Cameron, NC, Daniel Vavrica of Yonkers, Kimberly Cole and her husband, David of Lagrange, and Michael Vavrica and his wife, Yazmin of Yonkers; brother, Robert Tyner, Jr. and his wife, Frances of Sanford, NC; sister, Linda Lewis and her husband, Fred of Green Cove Springs, FL; brothers-in-law, Andrew Vavrica, Jr., Steve Vavrica and Joseph Vavrica and his wife, Barbara; grandchildren, Daniel Anton Vavrica, Jr., Christopher Franzese, Faith Marie Cole, Jayson Vavrica, Justin Vavrica, Jennifer Poole, Steven Poole, Elizabeth Tyner, Matthew Tyner, Krista Tyner and William Tyner; three great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Vincent and Brayden; and several nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 18, 2013 from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Thursday, September 19 at Holy Trinity Church, 775 Main Street in Poughkeepsie.
