Obituary of Mildred E. Cookingham

Mildred E. Cookingham, a resident of Wappingers Falls since 1960, entered into rest Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie. She was 91. Daughter of the late Harry and Blanche Moyer, she was born September 28, 1921 in Sharon, Connecticut and grew up in Amenia. She married Franklin J. Cookingham in Amenia Union on September 7, 1946. Mr. Cookingham preceded her in death on July 17, 2008. Mildred enjoyed going out to lunch, visiting with old friends, as well as returning to Amenia as often as time would allow. She is survived by her children, L. Peter Cookingham and his wife, June of Murrell's Inlet, South Carolina, Gail Seymour and her husband, James of Poughkeepsie, Joann McQuade and her husband, John of Rimrock, Arizona, Donna Smith and her husband, Randy of Salisbury, North Carolina, F. Jay Cookingham and his companion, Barbara Mead of Nichols, New York, and Andy Cookingham and his wife, Stefani of Essex Junction, Vermont; nine grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers and one sister. Interment will be in South Amenia Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Mildred's name may be made to The Reformed Church of Poughkeepsie, 70 Hooker Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.
