Obituary of James Russell

James Russell, a resident of Wappingers Falls and formerly of Yonkers, entered into rest Monday, April 29, 2013 at his home with his loving wife by his side. He was 89. Born and educated in County Kerry, Ireland, he was the son of the late James and Margaret O'Shea Russell. He married the love of his life, the former Josephine LeWancawick in 1972 at St. Mary's Church in Yonkers. Mrs. Russell survives. James retired from New York Telephone. He was a parishioner of St. Mary's Church in Wappingers Falls. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his nieces, Mary Margaret Fitzgerald, Peggy Russell both of Ireland, Eileen Fitzgerald, Margaret Mulcahy, and Annmarie Gregson; his nephew, John Russell. He was predeceased by his brothers, John, Patrick, Michael and Nicholas Russell and his sisters, Mary Fitzgerald, Sr. M. Margarette, Han Collins and Margaret Cahill Family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 1, 2013 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 2 at St. Mary's Church, Clinton Street, Wappingers Falls. Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Yonkers. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in James' name may be made to the Angel Program at St. Mary's School, 2 Convent Avenue, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590.
