Obituary of Charles Robert Ruffing

Charles Robert Ruffing, 50, passed away at MidHudson Regional Hospital on Tuesday, April 14, 2015. Charles was born October 6, 1964 in Poughkeepsie, New York. He was the beloved son of Alice Beebe Ruffing and Newton Eugene Ruffing. Charles was a graduate of Roy C. Ketcham High School and attended Marist College. He was employed by IBM Microelectronics until 1993. He was a long-term volunteer at St. Francis Hospital, especially in the Sleep Lab and Emergency Room areas. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his brother Thomas Ruffing and his wife Kim and their children Katherine and John, his brother, William Ruffing and his wife Sheila, their children Emily and Nicholas, his sister Ellen Patton and her children Jack, Anne Kearney, Mary Margaret and Thomas. Other survivors include his long-term love Alison Camp, his devoted friend Alex Simons and numerous members of his extended family. He will be remembered as a loving, generous person who brought much joy to those who knew him. He loved music, art, dogs, family and he especially loved walking the Rail Trail and the Walkway over the Hudson. The family wishes to thank the staff of the Critical Care Unit of MidHudson Regional Hospital for their sensitive and loving care. Calling hours will be held from 10:00am - 11:30am on Saturday, April 18, 2015 at the New Hackensack Reformed Church with a memorial service to follow at 11:30am. The church address is 1580 Route 376, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Music Program of the New Hackensack Reformed Church in memory of Charles Ruffing who was a music lover of and a participant in the music program.
