Obituary of Michael Anthony Fischetti

Michael Anthony Fischetti, a resident of the Bronx, entered into rest Monday, September 24, 2012 at Albert Einstein Medical Center in the Bronx. He was 85. Son of the late Anthony and Camilla Giammarino Fischetti, he was born July 11, 1927 in Brooklyn. He married the former Maria Monaco on October 30, 1954. Mrs. Fischetti survives in Wappingers Falls. Prior to his retirement, Michael worked as a Postal Worker for the United States Postal Service for over thirty-five years. Michael was a parishioner of St. Benedict's Church in the Bronx. He loved the city he lived in, New York City. Michael always started his day with a scrambled egg sandwich, a coffee and his paper. He enjoyed long walks in Manhattan, was an avid New York Yankees fan and loved listening to Frank Sinatra. Michael also enjoyed playing the horses, a good game of poker or an old movie. Family was important to him, especially Sunday Dinner reminiscing about his mother's homemade round ravioli. In addition to his wife of fifty-seven years, he is survived by his children, Angela, Camille, Agatha, Michael and Frankie; his sister, Nancy Elliot; twenty-four grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings, Thomas, Anna and Dorothy. Family will receive friends on Thursday, September 27, 2012 from 1 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Friday, September 28 at St. Mary's Church, 11 Clinton Street in Wappingers Falls. Interment will follow at 2 p.m. on Friday in the family plot at Green Wood Cemetery, 500 25th Street, Brooklyn.
