Obituary of Mary F. Conte

Mary Floy Conte, a longtime resident of Wappingers Falls, entered into rest Friday, September 7, 2012 at her home. She was 92. Daughter of the late Milton and Gladys Stewart MacDowell, she was born July 18, 1920 in Mobile, Alabama. On November 24, 1945 in Mobile, Alabama she married the love of her life, Eugene Virgil Conte. Mr. Conte survives at home in Wappingers Falls. Mary was a loving wife, devoted mother and caring grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed taking care of her home and family. Mary loved life and always saw the good in others. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Poughkeepsie. She also loved to play bridge in her spare time. In addition to her husband of sixty-six years, she is survived by her children, Judith Roenick and her husband, William and their son, Russell Roenick and his wife, Laura; Nancy Martinez and her husband, Victor and James Conte and his children, Nicholas and Melanie Conte. She is also survived her great-grandson Wesley Jones Roenick and her daughter-in-law, Jocelyn Willis Conte. Family will receive friends on Friday, September 14, 2012 from 9 to 10 a.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls. A memorial service will follow at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Chris Boyd officiating. Interment will be in Fishkill Rural Cemetery, Route 9, Fishkill. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Mary's name may be made to Hospice, 374 Violet Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.
