Obituary of Irene Foster

Irene Foster, born February 6, 1925, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 20, 2012 at River Valley Care Center in Poughkeepsie. Irene was preceded in death by her loving husband, William Henry Foster in 1971. She is survived by her three sons, William Henry, Jr. of LaPlanta, Maryland; George of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and Stephen of Wappingers Falls. She is also survived by two sisters, Joyce and Edna; brother, Stan all of Warrington, England. She also leaves seven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Irene was an avid bowler and enjoyed playing bingo in her later years. She loved to sing old songs and was quick to tell a joke. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 22, 2012 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY, 12590. A memorial service will be held during evening hours at 8 p.m. on Wednesday with Rev. Keith Tamlyn officiating. The family will hold a private service at the gravesite at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations in Irene's name be made to Hospice of Dutchess County, 374 Violet Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.
