Obituary of Julia Ortiz Coleman

Julia "Irma" Ortiz Coleman died peacefully at her home on August 3, 2012 surrounded by her loving family. Irma was born in Puerto Rico on May 22, 1934, the daughter of Ramon Ortiz and Elisa Melendez. She moved to New York at the age of 11. Irma was a thirteen year resident of Wappingers Falls and was formerly of Queens. She was a parishioner of St. Mary's Church in Wappingers Falls and St. Columba Church in Hopewell Junction. The love for her family cannot be expressed in words. Irma was a devoted wife, mother, kind and compassionate friend, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She shared her love, wisdom, and blessings with all who knew her. Irma's unconditional love and endless heart of gold was known to all. Irma is survived by her dog and companion, Sushi; her four children, Ida Estopinal and her husband, Frederick, III of Mandeville, LA, Darlene Concepcion and her husband, Jose Rick of Wappingers Falls, Jaime Coleman of Terrytown, LA and Tammy Coleman of Wappingers Falls. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy. She is also survived by her four grandchildren, Winifred "Winnie" Hernandez and her husband, Hector, Jr., Andre Mochon and his wife, Mary, Albert Estopinal and John Conception; her three great-grandchildren, Kyle Elliott, Julia Hernandez and Grace Mochon and her three great-great-grandchildren, Cade Pennison and Jayden and Jordon Elliott. Irma was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Coleman; her grandson, Seth Coleman and her great-grandson, Grayson Mochon. She is survived by a very large extended family, many of whom are more like sons and daughters, including Lottie Bennett, Bobby and Annette Concepcion, Raul Concepcion, Anita Concepcion, Myrna and Robert Jamette, Lucretia and Louie Serra, Joanne and Felix Ramon and Wanda Medina along with all of their children. We are extremely blessed to have had her in our lives. Forever, she will be missed. Family will receive friends on Sunday, August 5, 2012 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main St., Wappingers Falls, NY. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, August 5 at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Pinelawn Memorial Park, Farmingdale, NY. Irma's family wishes to express deep appreciation to Vassar Brothers Medical Center, Dutchess Dialysis, Elant at Fishkill and the Hospice staff for their compassionate and loving care. We would also like to thank Rosemary's Flower Shop and Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home for being so supportive during our time of need. Finally, the family expresses their sincere thanks to all the family and friends that supported them during Irma's illness.
