Obituary of Candy Fisher-Smith

Candy Fisher-Smith a resident of Wappingers Falls entered into rest Saturday, April 14, 2012 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie. She was 54. Daughter of the late John and Mary Crandell Fisher, she was born September 11, 1957 in Peekskill. She married Donald A. "Smitty" Smith on July 6, 2005. Smitty survives at home in Wappingers Falls. Candy worked as a Purchasing Agent in Prosthetics at Castel Point VAMC. She was also a coordinator for Food Fight for Vets for the past six years. Food Fight for Vets, an organization founded by her daughter Stephanie, supplies the Food Pantry at Castle Point and helps three hundred patients a month. Candy was dedicated to helping veterans both on the job and off. In addition to her husband Smitty, she is survived by her children Tina Tompkins, Stephanie Tompkins and Thomas Tompkins as well as her nine brothers and sisters. Family will receive friends on Friday, April 20, 2012 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590.
