Obituary of Patricia C. Parsons

Patricia C. Parsons entered peacefully into rest with her loving family by her side on Friday, March 30, 2012 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. Daughter of the late Harold T. and Almena Babcock Niessen, she was born in Poughkeepsie. She married Maurice (Bud) Parsons, Jr. at the United Methodist Church of Wappingers Falls. Mr. Parsons survives at home in Wappingers Falls. Patricia worked for Poughkeepsie Savings Bank for several years and later for Celebrate Card & Gift Shoppe in Poughkeepsie. In her spare time, she enjoyed volunteering in the nursery at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. She also enjoyed vacationing on Cape Cod, shopping and traveling. Most of all, Patricia loved the time spent with her family. She was known for her wonderful sense of humor and timeless beauty. She was voted "best looking" her senior year and was crowned "queen of the ball" at her high school prom. In addition to her husband of 42 years, she is survived by her daughters, Stacy Giancarlo and her husband, Jeffrey of LaGrange and Sabrina Parsons Oestrich and her husband, Mark of Wappingers Falls; step-daughter, Deborah LaFlesh of Malone; brother, Richard Niessen and his wife, Debbie of Las Vegas, NV; sister, Karin Stapleton of LaGrange and John Archimede; grandchildren, Max, Emily, Michelle, Kimberly, Monique and Christopher.; several nieces and nephews, Sandra Balding, Kristine Niessen, Todd Stapleton, Amy Niessen and Michael Enson. Family will receive friends on Monday, April 2, 2012 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 3 at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery, South Road in Poughkeepsie. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Patricia's name to the Parkinson's Disease Foundation, 1359 Broadway, Suite 1509, New York, NY 10018.
