Obituary of Anna G. Costa McGrath

Anna G. Costa McGrath passed away peacefully at her home at the age of 91. A native and long-time resident of Poughkeepsie, Anna was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt. She was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Anthony Costa; her loving daughter Marie Ann Erdo; her brother, Joseph Casele; and sisters, Louise Troyano, Jenny McCormack and Mary Natoli. She later married Edward McGrath; he predeceased her in 2010. Anna was an avid reader and enjoyed playing cards and being with her family. She was a parishioner of St. Martin de Porres Church in Poughkeepsie. She was also a member of the Red Oaks Mill Firehouse Ladies' Auxiliary. She is survived by her sons, Anthony F. Costa and his wife, Dorothy of Fishkill, Felix J. Costa and his wife, Linda of Myrtle Beach, SC, and James J. Costa and his wife, Ellen of Wappingers Falls; her loving granddaughter, Dawn Erdo, who became her caretaker and provided her with the attention, love and care she required; grandsons, Christopher, Jeffrey and Jamie Costa; granddaughters, Amanda Sorenson, Rachel Thurston, Dena Marro and Erica Costa; great-grandsons, Gianni and Nicholas Costa, Benjamin Sorenson and Mason Marro; as well as many nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends on Thursday, March 15, 2012 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday, March 16 at 10:15 a.m. at St. Martin de Porres Church, 122 Cedar Valley Road in Poughkeepsie. Interment will follow in her family's plot in St. Peter's Cemetery, Salt Point Turnpike in Poughkeepsie.
