Obituary of Anita L. Varuolo

Anita L. Varuolo, 84, of Wappingers Falls, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 10, 2015, at Wingate at Beacon. She was born in Corona to the late Angelo and Anna Gramolini in 1930. Anita grew up in Flushing along with her late brother Edward, and her sister, Enes. Anita attended PS14 Elementary School and Manhattan High School. Anita then went on to work for Coats and Clarks in Manhattan. She met her best friend, John, whom she married in 1963. They moved to Valhalla in 1973 where together, they raised two wonderful children. Anita retired from her job so that she could be home to take care of her family. She was kind, caring and generous. She was always looking to help others in need. She loved cooking, baking, knitting and playing bingo. She loved to volunteer in her spare time. Anita was also a parishioner of St. Mary Mother of the Church in Fishkill. Anita was a member of the Rosary Altar Society. Anita is survived by her husband, John Varuolo of Wappingers Falls; sister, Enes (William) Gerarde of Flushing; sister-in-law, Julia Varuolo of Wappingers Falls; son, John (Provvidenza) Varuolo of White Plains; daughter, Angela (Michael) Molina of Wappingers Falls; five grandchildren, Nicholas, Christopher and Alexander Varuolo, and Michael-John and Matthew Molina; nephews, Steven Gramolini of Long Beach, Michael (Tiffany) Gramolini of Flushing, Richard (Samantha) Gramolini of Farmingdale, Richard (Doreen) Varuolo of PA and Anthony (Mary) Varuolo of CT. Friends may visit on Tuesday March 17, 2015 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Mother of the Church, 106 Jackson Street in Fishkill.
