Obituary of Burton W. Harten

Burton W. Harten, 78, a resident of Wappingers Falls, died Thursday, November 29, 2011 at his home. Son of the late Burton and Anna Whiting Harten, he was born November 9, 1933 in Watertown. He proudly served his county in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged in 1956. He married the former Peg Lynch. Mrs. Harten survives at home. Burt had worked as a Customer Engineer with IBM prior to his retirement. He was also a member of the Masons as well as Trinity Episcopal Church in Fishkill. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Robert Harten of Raleigh, NC, Catherine Pendzuck of Poughkeepsie and Edward Harten of Poughkeepsie; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was predeceased by his seven sisters. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, December 10, 2011 at Trinity Episcopal Church, 1200 Main Street, Fishkill. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice, 374 Violet Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.
