Obituary of Michael D. Kenny

Michael D. Kenny, a resident of Hyde Park, entered into rest Monday, November 21, 2011 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie. He was 44. Son of Patrick Kenny of Sunrise, Florida and Erna Iovino Kenny of Wappingers Falls, he was born September 28, 1967 in Smithtown, Long Island. He married the former Danyell F. Gomez on May 15, 1999 in Junction City, Kansas. Mrs. Kenny survives at home. Mike had recently obtained his Associates Degree and worked as a drafter for Orange County Sheet Metal in Newburgh. He also dj'd and was a videographer for weddings in the area. One of Mike's greatest passions was his music and his band, FreakSwitch where he played guitar. He enjoyed sports, especially playing softball. He was an avid New York Giants and New York Yankees fan. Most importantly he was a devoted father, husband, son and brother. He will be truly missed by all who knew him. In addition to his parents and wife, he is survived by his children, Zachary and Alicia; his brothers, Patrick, Jr., James and Matthew Kenny; his sisters, Carolyn McCraney and Joanne Kenny; his mother and father–in-law, Betty and Danny Gomez; his brother-in-law, David Gomez; several aunts, uncles, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces and nephews as well as numerous friends. Family will receive friends on Friday, November 25, 2011 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 26 at the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Veterans Section of Wappingers Rural Cemetery, West Main Street, Wappingers Falls.
