Obituary of Mary I. Ponte

Mary I. Ponte Mary I. Ponte, a resident of the Village of Wappingers Falls, entered into rest, Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at St. Francis Hospital, Poughkeepsie. She was 67. Daughter of Mary T. Mackin Might of Highland and the late Raymond Francis Might, she was born May 17, 1940 in New York City. She married Loreto "Larry" Ponte on June 22, 1963 in the Bronx. Mr. Ponte survives at home in Wappingers Falls. She was a parishioner of St. Mary's Church, Wappingers Falls. Mary enjoyed crocheting, quilting and sewing. She also enjoyed her time playing bingo, especially at Mount Alvernia. Most importantly, she loved her role as a wife, mother and grandmother. In addition to her mother, Mary T. Might and her husband of forty-four years, Larry Ponte, she is survived by her children, Robert Ponte and his wife, Erika of Poughkeepsie and Anne Beahan and her husband, Brian of Highland; her sisters, Eileen Hoyle and her husband, Raymond of New Paltz and Pat O'Brien of Highland; her brother-in-law, Danny O'Brien; her five grandsons, Brian, Brendan and Timothy Beahan, William Tobler and Even Ponte. She was predeceased by her son, Christopher Ponte on June 5, 1993. Family will receive their friends on Monday and Tuesday, May 12 and 13, 2008 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 E. Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 am on Wednesday, May 14 at St. Mary's Church, Clinton Street in Wappingers Falls. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Wappingers Falls. Memorial donations on Mary's behalf may be made to and charity for Down Syndrome or Cancer such as St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
